Terms of use

Effective 14 October 2026. Covers the Yakitsuke Mac app and yakitsuke.com.

Who we are

Yakitsuke is made by Cheng-Hsien Han, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). These terms apply when you download, install or use the Yakitsuke Mac app (“the app”) or visit yakitsuke.com. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the app. The privacy policy explains what data the app and the site handle.

Using the app

We give you a free, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to install and use the app on Macs you own or control, for personal or commercial work. You may not:

• sell, rent or redistribute the app or modified copies of it (send people to yakitsuke.com instead);
• remove or change its copyright, trademark or licence notices;
• use it to break the law or to harm other people’s devices or systems.

The app includes open-source code under its own licences, listed in the app under Settings → About → Third-party licenses. Where those licences give you more rights, they apply.

Your photos, files and recipes

You keep all rights to your photos, the files you develop and the recipes you create. We don’t receive them, and these terms give us no rights to them.

Your camera

The app develops photos by sending RAF files to your camera over USB and using the camera’s own RAW conversion. FUJIFILM does not document, support or endorse this use, and Yakitsuke is not affiliated with FUJIFILM.

• The app changes your camera’s custom settings (C1–C7) only when you ask, and backs all of them up first. Keep those backups.
• When you click Release camera, the app stops the macOS processes that are holding the camera (ptpcamerad and PTPCamera). macOS starts them again when it needs them.
• Cameras marked Experimental on this site have not been tested on that body. Some settings may not apply as shown, and their custom slots are read-only.
• A camera firmware update may stop the app from working with that camera until we update the app.
• Use a charged battery and a cable you trust, and don’t unplug the camera while the app is writing its custom settings.

We test every supported camera on real hardware, but we can’t promise that every body and firmware behaves the same way. You use the app with your camera at your own risk, as far as the law allows.

Beta software

The app is in beta. It may have bugs, and features may change or be removed. The app never changes your RAF files, but keep your own backups of your photos, as you would with any software that handles them.

We may stop offering the app or the site at any time. The app doesn’t need our servers to develop photos, so a copy you have installed keeps working, but it won’t get updates or fixes.

Updates

The app checks for updates and installs them automatically, as the privacy policy describes. Updates may add, change or remove features, and these terms apply to them too.

AI agents (optional)

This is off until you turn it on in Settings. When you connect an AI app such as Claude Desktop, it can use Yakitsuke’s tools on your behalf: preview looks on your camera, create recipes, export files and add folders.

• You decide what to ask it, and you are responsible for checking what it does. AI apps can make mistakes.
• Your use of the AI app is governed by its provider’s terms and privacy policy, not ours.
• Add to Claude Desktop changes Claude Desktop’s configuration file, keeping a copy of the original the first time.

Price

The app is free during the beta. If we offer paid features later, they will come with their own terms, and nothing will be charged unless you choose to buy it.

Trademarks

FUJIFILM, the camera model names and the film simulation names are trademarks of FUJIFILM Corporation. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic. They are used here only to say what the app works with. The Yakitsuke name and icon are ours; please don’t use them in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product.

No warranty

As far as the law allows, the app and the site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that they are fit for a particular purpose, that developed files will look a particular way, or that they will work without interruption or errors.

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, photos, profits or business, or for damage to your camera or other equipment, arising from using or being unable to use the app or the site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Ending

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it; the privacy policy says which folders to delete as well. If you break these terms, your licence ends. The sections on your photos, trademarks, warranty, liability and law still apply after that.

Changes

If these terms change, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we will say so on this site before they take effect. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in its courts.

These terms are written in English and translated into the site’s other languages. If a translation differs from the English, the English applies, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
